Alex Jordan
BSW, RSW
I am a Registered Social Worker with over 10 years of experience supporting children, adolescents, adults, and families through life’s challenges. My experience spans hospital, community mental health, crisis intervention, and private practice, where I have had the privilege of walking alongside individuals and families during some of life’s most difficult moments.
My passion lies in supporting children, youth, and families. I believe that meaningful change happens when we look beyond the individual and understand the family as a whole. My work is grounded in Family Systems Theory, recognizing that every family member plays an important role in healing, growth, and resilience.
I have a particular interest in working with children experiencing anxiety, emotional regulation challenges, ADHD, behavioural concerns, and difficulties navigating life’s transitions. I also enjoy partnering with parents to better understand their child’s emotional world while building practical strategies that strengthen connection, confidence, and resilience at home. My goal is to help families move from simply managing behaviours to understanding the emotions and needs driving them.
My counselling approach is warm, collaborative, and strengths-based. I integrate evidence-informed approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)-informed strategies, Family Systems Theory, and strengths-based practice to help clients build emotional awareness, healthy coping skills, and lasting confidence. I strive to create a safe, compassionate environment where clients of all ages feel heard, valued, and empowered.
I am currently completing my Master of Science in Child Life and Pediatric Psychosocial Care at McMaster University. This advanced training is allowing me to further specialize in supporting children and families through emotional, developmental, and medical challenges while strengthening my knowledge of pediatric mental health and family-centred care.
Whether you are seeking support for yourself, your child, or your family, I would be honoured to walk alongside you. Together, we can build practical tools, strengthen relationships, and create meaningful, lasting change.
