At Carter’s, we take pride in ongoing professional development, continuous education, and staying up to date with evidence-based practices to better support our clients. Our team typically consists of 7-10 practitioners, some who have been with us for years and others who join us for a time before moving on. No matter their journey, we emphasize the importance of lifelong learning and growth.
Currently, our team includes a Master of Social Work, myself with a Master of Education, one completing a Master of Social Work, and another completing a Master’s in Counselling. Many of our therapists have also pursued additional training to become specialized in various modalities.
Last year alone, our team collectively completed over 700 hours of professional development-far exceeding the 200 required hours. This included university courses, podcasts, books, specialized training from other organizations, and supervision hours with an external supervisor. Investing in continuous learning is crucial for our ability to provide the best support to our clients. It allows us to deepen our understanding, hold space effectively, offer valuable tools, and explore the root causes behind certain client behaviors.
A key aspect of our practice is providing supervision and professional support to our staff. We recognize that independent practitioners often lack built-in support systems, making it challenging to debrief difficult sessions or seek guidance. At Carter’s, we ensure our team has access to supervision, mentorship, and a collaborative environment where they can grow both personally and professionally.
By fostering a culture of continuous learning, we enhance our ability to serve our clients effectively and ensure that every member of our team is supported in their professional journey.
